As the year post-covid drew to an end, our pet transport team always find themselves reminiscing about the extraordinary undertakings that happened throughout the months.

Pet transport to and from Malta has been on the increase as many more pet owners choose a new country to call ‘home’ and their little companions brave the skies to join them on what is considered a new adventure.

No matter how many years go by, we can never forget the series of furry, scaly or feathery friends we made along the way… animal babies that steal our hearts as their owners trust them in our hands to get them safely from their old homes to the new ones; back in their hands, home and hearts where they belong.

As an ode to these special creatures, we’re taking a look at some of the most memorable experiences and pet transport stories that characterised the past months for us.

OREO AND CINNAMON: READY TO MAKE SPAIN THEIR LITTLE KINGDOM

The best things are done in pairs, as these little two sweeties can attest. It’s not every day we meet two happy piggies on a conquest to transform the world of tapas and flamenco into a comfy home for them.

Liam Murray, their owner was looking for a team of professionals to get his two adorable pets across the skies. Our executives were present throughout and couldn’t resist cracking a smile as they hopped around in their boxes!

Safe and sound with their owner under a new climate, Oreo and Cinnamon are now being their happy selves in Malaga. Sounds like a happily ever after to us!

MAYA: A PUPPY ON A NEW DISCOVERY

Clifton, Maya’s owner, is not a newbie to Thomas Smith’s Pet Transport services. The little boxer was the third furry friend he entrusted in our hands, and needless to say, we were happy to assist in accompanying Maya with her trip from Malta to London’s Heathrow Airport.

Throughout all our journeys, our team offer professional attention and make suggestions to owners to prepare pets for their trip. With Maya being a little pup, additional care was considered to make her trip as seamless as possible. The UK is definitely happy to call lovely Maya its new citizen!

BONES: DEFEATING THE ODDS TO ACCOMPANY HIS OWNERS TO A NEW COUNTRY

All jobs bring about their own personal challenges, but COVID-19 put additional pressure on ensuring complete safety before heading on a flight.

This is the story of Bones, an adorable furry friend who was meant to accompany his owners – Tim and Michelle Kirk – on their flight as they head off to a new adventure through the skies to the UK. Following the latest requirements by airlines, both Bones’s owners were required to undertake PCR test prior to their flights.

Due to Mr Kirk’s result being delayed, our pet executive offered to keep Bones company as all his owners’ flight requirements were in-hand and the Kirks could pick up Bones and proceed with their flight.

We can happily say that Bones is now doing great in his new home in Cirencester; surrounded by a garden he loves and enjoying lots of walks close by!

PIDAN, BUN, TARO AND SALTY: SWAPPING ASIA WITH THE MEDITERRANEAN

Our pet transport team take care of various types of pets – this time, 4 little pigeons were getting ready to travel half-way around the world from Hong Kong to make Malta their new home. Their owner, Cecilia, who has pigeon rescue at heart and has even started a pigeon rescue Facebook page, wanted the utmost best for her babies. Especially for Bun, who has unfortunately lost his legs and was rescued from the streets of Hong Kong. And that is where Thomas Smith Shipping came in!

Whilst procedures were set for all 4 to make their way to Malta, our pet team made sure to handle customs clearance and meet their mummy as quickly and smoothly as possible. With all documents in hand and ready to be processed, all pigeons are now happily at home.
